Software Testing

Software testing is a process of exercising a program and observing its behaviour. There is mainly two kinds of testing performed on softwares:
  • White Box Testing
  • Black Box Testing
White box testing with internal logical structure of the program. This technique developing a flowgraph for all loops and if statement etc. in which conditions are taken as nodes and branches are paths which are described by arrows. From flowgraph we can determine cyclometic complexity and paths, and derive testcases.
On the other hand black box testing is not concerned with internal logical structure of the program. It involves testing wether the program behaves in expected way or not. It is performed for exercising functional requirements of the pergram.

Software Quality Assurance

Software Quality Assurance(SQA) of a product is done in two ways. One is to assure that the product being developed is the right product to be developed and the other is to confirm that it is a quality product. Software testing is not the only activity regarding the software quality assurance. SQA is an umbrella activity for the whole software development process which involves:
  • Software project management
  • Formal technical reviews
  • Software quality assurance
  • Software configuration management
  • Document preparation and production
  • Reusability management
  • Measurement
  • Risk management
